Unit 5.2A Assignment

On the class wiki site, post your favorite new Web 2.0 tool that has not been covered in detail in this class that you have discovered in this course or elsewhere. List the URL, what the tool is, and why you find it useful using the wiki template page. No duplication allowed-each page must be an original new tool. This can be done after reviewing the Unit 9 material, which covers more Web 2.0 resources.

Student Name:

Catherine Toraldo

Title of Site:

Animoto

URL:

https://animoto.com/

Description of Site:

Animoto is a free Web 2.0 tool and there are also paid usage as well as trials. On the iPad, it is free but is able to be upgraded. On the computer, there is a trail version. I did not notice any ads. Animoto does not have a specific section for students or teachers. This tool can be used with students from K-12. Students can create short video stories with pictures, text, uploaded video, and built-in effects. Completed videos can be played from the Animoto web site, published to YouTube, shared with a link or embed code, and saved to the Camera. The basic account allows for 30 second presentations, but educators can upgrade to full length presentations.

Educational Uses of Site

Educators can utilixe this tool to have the student complete story retells. Students can all create videos on the sight word/spelling words. It is hands-on and interactive.

Review of Site

It seems very simple to use. If used properly, the students can create short videos that are meaningful and reinforce the topics at hand.
